Of the Cloth is a community project and collaborative design studio centered around storytelling through clothing.

Collage of various human hands in different positions and gestures, some holding or touching, with a mix of skin tones and backgrounds.

༄ We work in collaboration with artists, makers and local communities to create small, slow and mindful creations.

༄ We source materials at the end of their lifecycle and reinterpret them, imbuing them with new agency.

༄ We share our process freely, holding space for skill sharing and the continuation of traditional practices.

A woman with long brown hair, earrings, and a snake tattoo on her arm is sitting in tall grass, holding and repairing a cloth bag.

Through making, we slow down and foster presence with one another and the materials around us - opening space for nurturing and reciprocal relationships.

Our Story

Of the Cloth was founded in 2023 by designer and artist, Fiona Con with the mission of deepening respect for fibers and craft through collaborative creation.

The idea for the project took shape over the course of countless conversations across many years. From a professional training and industry experience in New York and Berlin, to working with artisan communities and social organizations* in India, Greece and Central America, and collaborating on projects and capsule collections with friends and fellow makers.

Each of these encounters have been fundamental in guiding the vision for Of the Cloth, and each of these stories continues to influence the realization of this work. Read more here ~
